Dr Bill Sones and Dr Laurie Page

Dr.Bill Sones grew up on a farm near Fort St John, B.C.  He graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984 and married Dr. Laurie Page.  Together they practiced in Manitoba and British Columbia in both farm and companion animal practice, before moving to Nakusp in 1990 to set up Nakusp Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Sones has special interests in surgery and dentistry, and enjoys the diverse challenges of veterinary medicine. 

Bill spends his personal time playing squash, gardening, cycling, and hiking. 


Dr. Laurie Page grew up in rural Manitoba. She also graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. 

Dr. Laurie has special interests in behaviour and nutrition, and enjoys working with people and their pets.

In her spare time, Laurie volunteers for community projects, quilts, spins (alpaca fibre) and enjoys outdoor activities.

Both veterinarians appreciate being in a small town, where it is possible to give personal service to patients and clients.  They also take pride in providing a fully-equipped small animal practice to provide excellent veterinary care.  Hershey the AlpacaAnnie the dog They are active on the Veterinary Information Network, which connects veterinarians all over the world and helps keep everyone up-to-date on the latest trends and treatments.

Laurie and Bill have a dog named Annie, and 4 alpacas.



Jackie Jackie and Banjo

Jackie is our veterinary assistant. 

She helps us to make sure your pets are comfortable and well-cared for while they are in the hospital.  Jackie has taken extra training in anesthesia and monitoring as well as veterinary assistant training.

Jackie moved here from Alberta in 2008, with her husband and two children.  In 2013, she started work at Nakusp Veterinary Clinic.  Her hobbies are reading and knitting, and like most parents, she spends a lot of her spare time chauffeuring children.  Jackie has one family pet, Banjo.

Lori is our receptionist.

She is probably the first person you will talk to when you call Nakusp Veterinary Clinic, and will try to help you get what you need.  Lori has taken veterinary assistant courses through VSPN (Veterinary Support Personel Network)

Lori grew up in Nakusp, and says she never gets tired of the beauty of the Kootenays.   She and her husband are raising two children, and she spends most of her free time with her family.  Lori's hobbies are reading, camping and walking. 

The family has two cats:  Trinity and Boots.
