animal distant consultation - telemedicine

Distant consultation

Dr. Amber offers distant consultation for companions and small farm animals such as poultry, goats and pigs.

For clients living further away from the clinic, a distant consultation may be more logistically feasible. Please fill out the following form with as much details as possible, including photos and we will either email you back or schedule a phone call, depending on the complexity of the problem.

Please note that you must be a client of the clinic to book a distant consultation. If you need to open a file or add an animal to your file, please fill out the New Client Form.

To be noted

Telemedicine has inherent limitations and that, depending on the nature of the animal’s condition, it may not be possible to proceed without an in-person visit, or that an in-person visit may be necessary for follow-up.

Please be aware that in some circumstances, your pet may be required to attend the practice for an examination, following a remote appointment.

Some examples of conditions not suitable for a remote appointment:

-> Your pet is unable to pass urine or feces.

-> Your pet has ingested a toxic substance (plants, food).

-> Your pet has swallowed something dangerous (clothes, a toy).

-> Your pet has collapsed.

-> Has a seizure that is lasting more than 2 minutes or has had two or more seizures in less than 30 days.

-> Breathing difficulties or changes (e.g. faster breathing)

-> Vomiting or diarrhea lasting more than 24 hours.

-> Loss of thirst or appetite.

-> Swollen abdomen.

-> Eye problems.

-> Your pet has been in an accident.

-> Open wounds.
